In this second abstract series, I explore the limitless landscapes of dreams, capturing the surreal and fluid forms of our subconscious mind. Fluida Vida (Fluid Life) is a journey of self-realization and growth, distilled into a series of abstract mixed media collages that express my exploration of identity, belonging, and resilience. This series reflects the internal confrontations I’ve faced in fully embracing the artist I was always meant to be—a journey sparked in 2020, during the quiet upheaval of the lockdown. Growing up as a first-generation Latinx American, I was shaped by the “American Dream” my immigrant parents believed in, and by the love, courage, and expectations that came with it. This duality—being both Colombian and American—was sometimes a challenging space between worlds, yet it also became fertile ground for forging my unique path. Through layers of oil, acrylic, ink, and collage on canvas, I translate my own internal landscape into textures, colors, and abstract forms, evoking feelings of vulnerability, strength, and acceptance. My hope is that viewers find connection here, allowing these layers of color and emotion to resonate with their own unspoken stories, and to inspire courage and openness within them as well.
